Purpose

The Axis video surveillance integration allows users of the BRP system to connect with Axis cameras for enhanced monitoring and event management. This integration provides seamless access to live and recorded footage linked to movement events, as well as tools to manage and review surveillance activities directly from BRP.

...

  • Live video streaming from connected Axis cameras.

  • Motion detection-triggered events displayed in Entrance View.

  • Access to recorded footage of triggered events.

  • Integration with gates and card readers to associate video feeds with physical access points.

  • Support for cameras with audio recording capabilities.

Prerequisites

To use the Axis video surveillance integration, ensure the following requirements are met:

  1. Axis Camera Setup

    • The camera must be configured with a unique username and password.

    • Motion sensitivity and recording settings should be configured within the Axis system, as these are not adjustable via BRP.

  2. BRP Configuration

    • Cameras must be linked to specific gates and card readers within BRP’s configuration interface.

    • Users must have appropriate access rights to manage surveillance events in both Entrance View and Backoffice.

  3. System Requirements

    • Sufficient storage capacity on the Axis system to retain recorded footage for desired durations. BRP can only retrieve videos that are still stored on the Axis system.

Use Flow

  1. Live Video Streaming

    • Access live video from a camera by navigating to the appropriate area in BRP's configuration or Entrance View.

  2. Motion Detection and Events

    • When motion is detected by an Axis camera, an event is triggered and logged in Entrance View.

    • Events show related access points, such as gates or card readers, enabling quick identification of the location.

  3. Viewing Recorded Footage

    • From an event in Entrance View, users can:

      • View live video from the camera.

      • Access recorded footage linked to the motion event.

  4. Event Management

    • After reviewing an event, mark it as "handled" in either:

      • Entrance View: This action removes the event from Entrance View but retains it in the Backoffice for archival purposes.

      • Backoffice > Admittance > Surveillance Events: Events remain accessible even after being marked as handled.

  5. Audio and Advanced Features

    • If an Axis camera includes audio recording, users can play the audio alongside the video within BRP.

    • Cameras equipped with tamper detection, such as climb sensors for gates, can send alerts that are also logged in BRP.

Limitations

  1. Video Storage and Retrieval

    • BRP relies on the Axis system for video storage. If a video is deleted or overwritten in Axis, it will no longer be accessible from BRP.

  2. Saving Videos

    • Videos cannot be downloaded or saved directly from BRP. To save a recording, users must access the Axis camera system.

  3. PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) Controls

    • BRP does not support controlling rotating or PTZ cameras. These adjustments must be made through the Axis interface.

  4. Motion Sensitivity

    • Motion sensitivity settings are managed in Axis and cannot be configured via BRP.
