POS Connection Code

POS Connection Code

Description

POS Connection Codes provide a way to connect a new browser station (a POS running in a browser with no saved client connection) to the correct register unit, that allows for multiple users of one computer to all have a saved connection from that computer to a register unit.

The intended way to use this is that the administrator generates a code and then places that code on a sticker on the computer screen of that register.

This way, if you have multiple Windows-users on the same computer, staff members can connect Point of Sale to the correct register unit without having to contact our support or an administrator.

usePOSConnectionCodes

Has to be enabled by BRP staff. Once enabled, connection codes can be generated per register and users will get the possibility to connect point of sale to the correct register using the connection code upon opening Point of Sale.

Generate connection codes

BRP Configuration → Register → Registers

BRP staff can generate one connection code per register. To do this, click on the “Generate” button next to “Connection code” on the register.

Note: This is available for registers of type “Standard” or “Cash free register”.

Regenerating a code for a register does not mean existing connections are destroyed, but that the old code can no longer be used for new connections.

Use flow

Once a connection code has been generated, write it down and keep it somewhere close to the computer.

When a staff member logs into their Windows account and opens Point of Sale, they will be prompted to enter the connection code:

Users with the role based right “Access right for connecting to register” will get both options to connect the register, the regular way (Client name) and the connection code.
